Elevator Action Returns is a Jump and run Shooter from Taito
and a sequel to Elevator Action.
The Story takes place sometime in the 21st century, where an elite
terrorist group is trying to take over the world. Your mission is to infiltrate
the terrorists who have seized control of a skyscraper, an airport, an
underground arcade, a submarine oil field and finally a missile base. You and
your special task force must obtain secret data which is necessary in the
destruction of this evil plot to end the world.
Taito released the original Elevator Action to arcades back in 1983.
Since its release, it has become one of the most sought-after classic arcade
games in history. Then in 1995, almost a decade and a half later, Taito released
Elevator Action Returns into the arcades.
After choosing one of
three available characters (of varying skill and ability), the player travels
through six stages of side- and vertical-scrolling platform action, gathers
data, and ultimately reaches a getaway vehicle to move on to the next area.
There is really a lot of shooting and fighting with all kinds of weapons, and
other than his predecessor the graphic is very good with lots of details and
nicely animated characters.
