Great Gurianos / Gladiator is a fighting game from Taito

Story: Travel with the Great Gurianos as he battles his way through 4 stages against some of the toughest and most feared warriors ever to be found anywhere.
The player controls a gladiator/knight named Guaranos as he walks through a castle. Moving the joy stick left and right moves the Guaranos left and right, and up and down is used to position Guaranos's shield. An un-defended hit to Guaranos knocks off part of his armor (his helmet for a high hit, his breastplate for a medium hit, and his leggings for a low hit), and a subsequent hit to the same area kills him. The game's three buttons correspond to a high, medium, and low attack with Guaranos's sword.
